Myths Behind Botox Injection Horror Stories
Almost everyone who has ever considered having a Botox injection has heard at least one horror story. Nevertheless, how true are these stories? Is it really possible for someone to have their face freeze so it never moves again? Is it really possible to have your face bruise so badly after an injection that it is entirely black and blue? Is it even possible to pay for Botox injections without having to spend all of your time at work? Each of the Botox injection horror stories typically starts as an urban legend of sorts. Other times they can start as someone's own personal experience that is somewhat blown out of proportion as it is retold numerous times. This is actually a very common occurrence. However, it certainly does not account for all problems that occur because of physicians actually making mistakes. Because of the fact that Botox injections can only be performed by doctors, it is standard that most injections are very safe. However, despite doctors performing the procedure it is still possible for mistakes to occur. For example, if you are someone who is highly prone to bruising then you are very likely to have a problem with excessive bruising following a Botox injection. Many of the horror stories are simply exaggerations of typical side effects however. For example, one of the biggest Botox injection horror stories focuses around the pain that accompanies the procedure. While typically a mild pain medication such as an over the counter medication is the most effective, there are some people who have a very low tolerance for pain. These people require stronger pain medications to handle their pain, regardless of the source. If they tell someone they are taking a strong pain medication because of a Botox injection then it is very easy to assume that the procedure is very painful when it really is not. In addition, many people assume that after a Botox injection that the facial muscles will freeze permanently, this is quite untrue. However, because some people experience temporary freezes this has turned into a bit of a Botox injection horror story in its own right. There are almost always people who experience temporary loss of facial muscles. This is perfectly normal and is not really a reason to be alarmed at all. The number of people who take typical side effects from Botox injections and talk about them with friends and acquaintances as well is another aspect that adds to the Botox injection horror stories. People do not always understand Botox injections and it is often the fear of the unknown that will have someone highly afraid of things that they do not know. Botox injections are a perfect example of this fear, with the knowledge of exactly what the injection is, as well, as how it works people are much less likely to be concerned about the Botox injection horror stories that they hear, and instead focus on the benefits that the procedure provides. |
