Neurology Botox Injections Explained
Most people who think of Botox treatments simply think about looking younger, a more youthful appearance and even about trying to smooth out the harsh and deep wrinkles that form from years of smiling and frowning. However, there are also other methods that are being explored using Botox as a treatment method. While there have been minor studies conducted to see the effects of Botox in pain there have also been other uses as well. Such uses include the use of neurology Botox injections that are used to help treat various neurology based disorders. One such example is using Botox to help treat stuttering. While the use of Botox to help improve stuttering is highly experimental, there are numerous neurology doctors who are starting to recommend the use. Many doctors are starting to recommend the use of Botox treatments, while many others are questioning the usage.
While it has been determined in several studies that using Botox to help treat stuttering is a bit effective, there are some side effects that do cause some concern particularly for patients. The biggest concern that many patients have is the expense of the injections. For neurology problems most injections cost approximately $900 and the effects only last a few months which make it a very difficult to justify all of the treatments that are recommended. Another consideration that many look closely at is the pain that is involved. Because stuttering itself does not cause pain at all, most patients are not willing to deal with large amounts of pain to see improvement from treatment options. This leaves Botox in a very precarious position because most Botox injections are very painful, particularly those that are involved for neurology procedures. Due to the pain considerations, most patients who are involved in the experimental treatments usually determine after only a few short treatments that the procedure is both too expensive and too painful to continue. There are some who do still consider Botox to be the best form of treatment for the neurology disorders. It is not always possible to find a doctor that is willing to readily recommend the procedure, as well as it is often difficult to find an insurance company that will agree to the experimental procedure. To ensure the best results if you are considering using neurology Botox injections it is important to find a doctor who is willing to work with you to achieve the best results possible without arguing over the exact methods used as much. In order to really achieve the best results possible it is a requirement that you must find a doctor that is willing to consider the treatment. However, be aware that it does have side effects in addition to being painful. Many have complained about losing their voice entirely following a Botox treatment, and then picking up a very wispy sounding voice for several weeks once the voice returns. However, this is a side effect that some are willing to accept, while other patients are unwilling to handle the problem. Deciding the best decision for your self is often a personal decision and based upon your own individual lifestyle. |
